Employers are required by provincial legislation to implement protective measures in workplaces with known respiratory hazards (e.g., coal dust, asbestos, silica, isocyanates). The goal is to prevent workers from inhaling such hazards, which could cause occupational lung diseases and other complications over the course of their employment. Legislation can vary by province.
In the 1980's, I drove my classic convertible for the annual Daffodil Parade in downtown Toronto, up and down University Avenue and Yonge Street. After the parade, all celebrities, drivers and CCS staff congregated at the Sheridan Centre Hotel, where I learned a bit about the Canadian Cancer Society.
On International Women’s Day, I find myself reflecting on lessons learned from women I admire and respect. There are so many strong, courageous, and compassionate women making a difference in the world. Today, my mother, and DriverCheck co-founder Dr. Mary-Jean Page, comes to mind. A highly intelligent, resilient, caring, and creative woman, she was key in building our company from the ground up.
